Two feet, Tons of Countries

So there are a ton of places you want to visit, but you don’t have the time right now. Maybe put those plans in the backburner, and revisit them later. There’s no reason at all that wouldn’t feel like how you’d walk in your dream destinations … right at home! Here’s a quick little list of some of footwear and the accompanying accessories appropriate for corners of the world!

Spain – Espadrilles is the order of the day. They used to be known as “peasant footwear,” but they’ve been given a second life thanks to names like Donna Karan. A neat addition to your outfit would be a red scarf necklace, worn around the neck, for that earthy, Spanish feel.

India – Putting on an ethnic piece like beaded slippers mixed and match with shawls will make you look all dressed up. Add a couple of gold bangles and you’re all set!

Greece – The gladiator slippers that Mischa Barton has been sporting lately says it all. Also, metallic bangles give you a Troy-ish Grecian style.

China – Silk flats are the equivalent to giving your feet first class tickets — it’s both stylish and comfy at the same time. There are tons of asian-inspired accessories like necklaces and bracelets to give your style an oriental twist.

Italy – Everybody knows Italian leather is the way to go — run with some Nine West Leather pumps. You just can’t go wrong.

Looky Looky Lucky!

Lucky!

Okay, so I was expecting the good luck to start along with the year, but as the first month of 2008 closes, I’m feeling like things are just getting better and better!

Friend gets married – I think I already posted about this. I’m just so happy for her that I still consider this as part of my good luck. (I mean, no “I object” moments during the wedding = good luck in a wedding, right?)

I saw Cloverfield for free – Okay, so it was scary, but premiere tickets in the office just up for grabs??? I’m in! (And was scared to death! I don’t like those giant spider-thingies and the sound they make… creepy!)

Finally got to watch Across the Universe – to quote Seth from SuperBad (only at a slightly different context) “It’s like hearing the Beatles for the first time.”

I saw a dragon! - Well, a dancing one, but that’s still lucky! From what I’ve heard (and just witnessed today) today is Chinese New Year! (Happy New Year!) At work today, I saw guys dressed in red maneuvering a dragon head, performing the dragon dance just outside the window, and, according to wikipedia, it is said that this brings good luck.

And hey, if you’re on a roll, what would you do but put it to the test, right? I joined a couple of contests with what I’d like to call “the shotgun approach.” (I’m bound to hit something if I use a wide-spectrum approach, right?)

Joined the lottery, a convenience store peel-off contest, joined a blogging thing for a chance to go to Hong Kong, joined this Win a Trip thing, joined a department store raffle and said hi to that cutie by the next building. Wish me (more) luck!
